NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES

                                                 Mercy me, sakes alive, and carrot coffee!

Dick Cheney, with a popularity rating of 18% according to the latest polls, while opposing almost everything President Obama does or proposes, in a recent speech contended that it was waterboarding and other torture methods employed by the Bush Administration that has kept mainland USA free from attack by our jihadist enemies since 9/11.

                             I beg to differ with the unpopular, over-the-hill former VP.

I think that it was the national alertness, brought on by good media coverage, that did the trick. Thank God for our free press! This put all law enforcement workers, federal, state, and county on continuous alert, along with most of our citizens.

                        Thomas Jefferson expressed our stand very well in our Declaration of Independence.

 "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

I see no way to fit waterboarding or other torture methods into the foregoing!
