IS OUR GREAT
DEMOCRACY DOOMED?

Is the USA, the world’s greatest democracy, doomed for extinction? From
this keyboard it would appear that it is, based on facts that are floating
around out there! For example, I understand that the latest Pew Research
survey indicates that only 1 person in 4 knew that 60 votes are required in
the senate to break a filibuster, and that only 1 in 3 knew that
NO Republicans voted for the health care
bill! I won’t insult their egos by calling this ignorance, but I will say
that such a lack of knowledge, if left alone, sooner or later will destroy our
vaunted democracy!
Now about the 60 votes required in the
senate, we have 100 senators and 435 congressmen, for a total of 535, and 41
senators can stymie any legislation that comes up! Thus, it is that less then
10% of our elected representatives can control any legislation that brought up
from the house! So, with many of these senators being millionaires, or
billionaires, it is no wonder that the once almighty dollar is controlling
everything!
We need to restore majority rule by
drastically changing the foregoing. Above all, we must better inform the
public. Further, it is the opinion here that, among other things, we need to
kick the Blue Dogs, who are really Republicans posing as Democrats, (D.I.N.O.‘S-Democrats
in name only) out of the Democrat Party.
