HUCKABEE’S PARDONS AND PAROLES

By Kermit C. Moss

Mercy me, sakes live, and carrot coffee! In trying to defend our former governor against the charge of excessive pardons and paroles Stu Soffer of White Hall, in a letter to the Pine Bluff Commercial dated December 5th 2009, holds that in making his defense, Huckabee has been standing tall! What? Say again!

In a Washington Post article, dated December 1, 2009, Perry Bacon, Jr. and Garance Franke-Ruta, wrote, in an article entitled “Huckabee’s pardons at issue after police killings” that the shooting deaths of four police officers near Tacoma, Washington have renewed scrutiny of Huckabee’s pardon record, noted that the more than 1,000 commutations and pardons he issued during his 10 year tenure come to more than those issued by his three predecessors combined. Further, well-documented reports have it that in the six states surrounding Arkansas, with twenty times the population, in the same time frame had only 624 pardons and paroles, Huckabee in Arkansas had 703!

Now let us look at what the inimitable Flo Cato had to say about it! “I don’t understand why so many people think that Mike Huckabee is so religious. He left the ministry and went into politics. He was called to preach or he wasn’t. If he wasn’t he had a lot of Baptists fooled. The bible says no man, having put his hand to the plough and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God”!.

Yes, the love of money is the root of all evil!
