BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM!

Mercy me, sakes alive, and marauding elephants! As most people know, capitalism is a fabulous economic system,out-producing any other with goods and services for the consumption of its people; but it has its flaws! Not everything about it is good. If left unfettered and unregulated, greed and avarice tend to run rampant. Take the case of the Enron debacle, resulting in the biggest bankruptcy, up until that time, in the history of the United States. Andrew Leonard, in an article in salon.com of 12/02/01, puts it this way, “But Enron’s roller coaster ride is not as astounding as everyone would like to believe. It is, instead, exactly the way capitalism works, when government is asleep at the wheel and greed is allowed -- nay, encouraged -- to be the primary operator in the market place.” Many other examples of roller coaster rides have occurred since that time, with some entities so large and powerful that, even though they are insolvent, we fear letting them declare bankruptcy, since to do so might cause the whole house of cards to tumble! All along, the privileged elite have had their way!

Then there is populism, the political doctrine that supports the rights and powers of the common people in their struggle with the privileged elite. Barack Obama seems to be out in front, leading this struggle!

May God help us and let justice prevail.

Lay on, MacDuff!
