A RECESSION
By Kermit C. Moss
Mercy me, sakes alive, and carrot coffee!
Are we in a recession or not? Just what is a recession anyway?
First, let us look at what Mr. Webster says: "The act or action of receding; a period of reduced economic activity".So what about our current situation? Consumer confidence is down. Prices are receding, in housing, and some other items, employment is receding, and consumption, the life-blood of an economy, is receding - so much so that even George Bush has endorsed a plan and the House has passed a plan to give tax rebates to put more purchasing power in the hands of consumers.
When looking at all these things, how can anyone say that we are not in a recession?
Here, it would seem to be only those who are not informed, or those who have an economic interest in so saying!
